Byron Donalds is an American politician and businessman who has represented Florida’s 19th congressional district in Congress since 2021. His district includes Cape Coral, Fort Myers, Bonita Springs, Estero, and Naples, as well as the rest of Southwest Florida. From 2016 to 2020, Donalds served as the Florida state representative representing the 80th district, which includes Hendry County and a portion of Collier County.
Donalds was born and reared in the Crown Heights section of Brooklyn, New York City.
He was the youngest of three children reared by his single mother.

Donalds graduated from East Flatbush’s Nazareth Regional High School in 1996.
He attended Florida A&M University and graduated from Florida State University with a bachelor’s degree in finance and marketing in 2002.
Donalds was charged with marijuana distribution in 1997, but the charges were dropped as part of a pre-trial diversion program. He pled guilty to criminal bribery as part of a plot to defraud a bank in 2000, but the charge was expunged after he was elected to the Florida House.
