Robert Ralph Minkoff is an American filmmaker and character animator. he is also a film and animation director.
Rob was born on August 11, 1962, in Palo Alto, California. He is the only son and child of his parents. he attended Palo Alto High School and graduated California Institute of Arts in the 1980s He was in the character animation department.
Minkoff has been working as a character animator even when he was in school. He was hired by Walt Disney Animation Studios in 1983. He worked as an in-between artist on The Black Cauldron. His first main character design was the Brave Little Toaster in 1987.

He also worked on several animation characters. In 1994, he had his breakthrough after he directed The Lion King. He also worked with DreamWorks Animation on their film; Mr. Preabody & Sherman.
Aside from animation, he has also directed several live-action movies. His works include Stuart Little (1999), Stuart Little 2 (2002), The Haunted Mansion (2003), The Forbidden Kingdom (2008), and Flypaper (2011).
